Greer Golf | Greer, South Carolina
A successful charity golf tournament is about more than enjoying a day on the course. It’s about bringing people together to support a cause and finding ways to make every dollar count.
Targeted Possibilities recently had the opportunity to support Greer Community Ministries during its charity golf tournament at Greer Golf in Greer, South Carolina.
The tournament featured both morning and afternoon tee times, giving golfers two opportunities to participate and support the organization.
By the end of the event, our fundraising activities had generated $3,500 in player participation revenue. After covering the cost of our services, Greer Community Ministries received an additional $2,160 in fundraising proceeds.
And the best part? These revenue results were achieved without a dedicated activity sponsor.
Two Tee Times, One Great Cause
This tournament featured two separate flights of golfers, one in the morning and another in the afternoon.
Having two tee times allowed more players to take part in the event and support the charity.
For tournament organizers, this type of format can also create more opportunities to raise money through activities offered throughout the day.
Our goal at Targeted Possibilities is to provide fundraising experiences that golfers enjoy while helping charities increase the money they raise.
Greer Community Ministries provided a great example of how that can work.
$3,500 in Revenue and a Positive Return for the Charity
One question we often hear from charity golf tournament organizers is whether adding fundraising activities will be worth the cost.
The results at Greer Golf provide a useful example.
Here’s how the numbers worked out:
- Player participation revenue: $3,500
- Cost of Targeted Possibilities services: $1,340
- Additional proceeds for the charity: $2,160
- Gross return on service cost: 2.61 times
For every dollar spent on our services, the tournament generated approximately $2.61 in player participation revenue.
That means the charity received its original investment back through activity revenue and retained an additional $1.61 for every dollar spent.
These results are especially encouraging because the event did not have a dedicated sponsor covering the cost of our activities.
Sponsorships can be a valuable way to increase the fundraising potential of a tournament. However, this event demonstrated that player participation alone can produce a positive return.
Of course, results will vary based on tournament attendance, pricing, participation, and event format.

Making Charity Golf Fundraising Work
At Targeted Possibilities, we believe a charity golf tournament should be fun for the players and productive for the organization hosting it.
Our fundraising experiences include the Golf Ball Air Cannon, Drone Drive, and Drone Drop.
These activities give golfers something different to enjoy while creating additional opportunities to raise money.
We also work with tournament organizers to identify sponsorship opportunities that can help improve the financial return.
The Greer Community Ministries tournament is a good reminder that successful fundraising doesn’t always require a dedicated activity sponsor.
Sometimes, providing golfers with an enjoyable experience and an opportunity to support a good cause is enough to produce meaningful results.
Thank You, Greer Community Ministries!
We want to thank Greer Community Ministries, Greer Golf, the tournament organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and all the golfers who helped make the event a success.
